A Notary Public is a public official appointed by the Secretary of State to serve as an impartial witness in performing a wide variety of fraudulent deterring acts as they relate to the signing of important documents.
A Notary identifies a signer through a valid government issued ID. These IDs must have a picture, physical description, and address. Examples of valid IDs are driver’s license and passports.
Notaries and Notarizations are important to deter fraud and assure that the signer is aware of the contents that they are signing.
